Import your resume

If you have an existing resume, you can import it to pre-fill your profile instead of starting from scratch. TailorFit supports PDF, DOCX, and Google Drive documents.

How to import

From the profile builder or the My Profile section, select "Import resume." You will have three options:

  • Upload a file: PDF or DOCX, up to 5MB
  • Google Drive: Connect your Drive and pick the file directly
  • Paste the text: Copy the content of your resume into the text field

After the import

Once the import finishes, give your profile a quick review:

  • Check that job titles and companies are correct
  • Look at the experience bullets and make sure they sound like you
  • Fill in anything that got missed or was in a format that did not parse cleanly

Tables, multi-column layouts, and heavily formatted templates sometimes cause issues. If something looks off, edit it directly in the profile editor.

It is usually faster to review and fix after an import than to type everything from scratch, even if the import is not perfect.

When to paste instead of uploading

If your resume is in a format that does not import well, pasting the plain text will usually give a cleaner result. Select all the text in your resume document, copy it, and paste it into the field. Creative templates and two-column layouts tend to work better this way.

A note on formatting

The import pulls in your content, not your design. TailorFit uses your information to build a structured profile which it then uses for tailoring. The visual style of your original resume does not carry over, and that is intentional.
