Customize your pipeline

TailorFit comes with a default set of application stages that covers most job searches. If you track your search differently, you can customize those stages to match how you think.

Default stages

The default stages are: Saved, Applied, Phone Screen, Interview, Offer, Rejected, and Withdrawn. These cover the most common path from first interest to a final decision.

Customizing your stages

From Settings → Pipeline, you can:

  • Rename any existing stage
  • Change the order stages appear in
  • Add new stages for steps specific to your search — for example, "Take-home test" or "Reference check"
  • Archive stages you do not use (archived stages will not appear in the stage dropdown)

Why customization matters

Your stage data drives the Overview dashboard — response rates, pipeline breakdown, and conversion rates. If your stages do not match how you actually track things, the dashboard numbers are less useful. Setting up stages that reflect your real process is worth doing early.

Moving applications between stages

You can update the stage on any application from its detail page. Stage changes are logged automatically in the application's activity feed, so you always have a record of when things moved.

What counts as a response

TailorFit calculates response rate based on applications that move past "Applied" to any later stage. If you add a stage like "Rejected after apply," make sure it sits after "Applied" in your stage order so the conversion math stays correct.
